The CKJU is delighted to have been endorsed both as a club, and to have received endorsements of our Chief Instructor on a personal level, by several highly regarded, (and in at least 2 cases World Famous, Martial Artists.
Read what they have to say, and check them and their work out below:
Russell Stutely
Russ is a master of Kyusho Jutsu, (Pressure Point striking), and has founded his own style – The Open Circle Fighting Method, (OCFM). His techniques and his accomplishments are renowned the world over; he encapsulates the essence of a true martial artist in his life and work.
Russ was kind enough to provide this endorsement on his site of our Head Instructor, Dr Ed Emmanuel, following his 2016 grading in Cambodia in OCFM:
“It is with great pride that today I can announce we have a new member of the OCFM Family of Coaches, Eddie Emmanuel.
I first met up with Eddie about 5 years ago and he has taken to our principles like a Duck to water.
A very talented, intelligent and humorous Martial Artist, who ”fits the bill” when it comes to being an OCFM kinda guy.
I hope that you will take the time to congratulate Eddie below.
WELL DONE Eddie – great to have you on board.”

There can be no finer Association for the study of traditional, applied, or sport Karate, so for anyone who wishes to train in and excel in any of these areas- you could do no better than to join Shindo Kai Karate. Check them out at http://www.shindokai.co.uk and read their Head Instructor’s extremely kind words about us below:
“I first met Eddie in 2010, when he started training with us here at the Shindo Kai Karate Association.
It was clear from the beginning that he is a very enthusiastic, knowledgeable and open-minded Martial Artist, with an unquenchable thirst for learning more and more about both traditional and Applied Martial Arts.
We enjoyed frequent and lively discussions about both the Martial Arts and Philosophy of life in general, he is a great Mentor to those he takes under his wing. We have become firm lifelong friends, and occasional ‘partners in crime’ – of the humorous variety that is!
I wish Eddie every success in his new venture at CKJ Universe, but I am confident that the calibre of the teaching, and its practicality will be of the highest order.”

A true martial arts master, renowned karate expert Iain is a long time friend and training partner of Dr Ed Emmanuel and has very kindly given this ringing endorsement:
“Eddie Emmanuel is always a joy to share a dojo floor with. He is warm-hearted, dedicated, thoughtful and skilful. All the things a martial artist should be! We’ve trained together a lot over the years and I was on Eddie’s 4th dan grading panel. He never fails to impress. A good man, a good martial artists, a good teacher and a good friend. If you are looking for quality martial arts instruction, then you’ve found what you are looking for!”

Russ Martin- 6th Dan Tae Kwon Do

When it comes to Tae Kwon Do training, Russell Martin is simply the best. Not only has he trained several Tae Kwon Do World Champions, but he is a leading authority in the application of Tae Kwon Do and its patterns to street self defence.
Like our Head Instructor, he has a huge passion and enthusiasm for constant improvement and development of his Martial Arts knowledge. Over the years not only have the two trained extensively together, they have been known to travel great distances together in order to train with a White Crane Kung Fu Master, in order to better understand the origins and therefore the meaning and applications of their arts.
Whether you are looking for superlative Tae Kwon Do training or are a Karateka who wishes to amplify their kicking prowess, you will find no better Instructor than Russ Martin. Check him out at http://www.tkdbristol.com or on Twitter @TKDBristol and read his kind words below:
“I have known, trained with and enjoyed animated martial arts discussions and debates with Eddie, for over 20 years.
He is a highly competent, first class Martial Artist, with expertise in the kicking, punching and grappling ranges.
He has a real passion for the application of Martial Arts to real life, and his passion and enthusiasm for both Martial Arts, and life in general, are completely infectious.
Far more importantly, he is a good man, a calm solid rock in a storm, loyal, faithful, insightful and a great friend.
I have every confidence he will have a significant, positive impact on both the Martial Arts Training and lives in general of all who train with him….He always does!”
Pete Douglas is the Head Coach of the elite Bradley Stoke Judo Club, widely recognised as one of if not the finest Judo club in Great Britain. The club boasts so many British Champions, (at least 7 at last count), that even achievement of a Dan grade, (which is a significant achievement in Judo since award of the black belt is generally only after beating 5-10 of one’s peers in open competition), does not command great respect within the club. Only attainment of the British Champion badge is considered a significant praise-worthy accolade.
“I have known Eddie for 12 years and throughout that time have been thoroughly impressed by his humility and willingness to grow as a martial artist. When he first walked into our elite judo club, he had zero knowledge and zero experience of grappling. Over time, he has steadily improved and become a competent Judoka, so that the original Ed who walked into the dojo would be absolutely no match for the Judoka he is today!
He is an enthusiastic participant in Randori, (sparring), and never loses an opportunity to make an unofficial challenge for my British title. Although at present I have no serious concerns for the safety of my trophies, one day….who knows?
Eddie is a great guy, generous and popular on the mat, and we look forward to his continued participation as a valued member of the Bradley Stoke Judo Club. His best Judo is yet to come!”
Peter Douglas (5 Time British Masters Judo Champion)
